Background
My journey to the furniture business started with my love of art. I was born in Bronxville, New York, and was raised near the culturally rich New York City. My father was an engineer and furniture maker, my mother a journalist and poet, and my uncle a fine artist. It was easy to be inspired by the creativity of my family, and my proximity to museums, dance, and theatre.
I loved to draw from a very young age……and that has never changed. I watched my father build tables and clocks, lamps and models, and I watched my uncle paint and draw. I wanted to be like my uncle….I never dreamed I’d end up drawing furniture.
I decided to pursue my love of art in college, although I didn’t know where it would lead. That all changed when my family moved to High Point, North Carolina. At that point I didn’t realize I had moved to the furniture capitol of the world.
During my last two years in college I met my husband of 30 years, Kim Setliff. His family, being natives of High Point, introduced me to many people in the furniture business. The furniture market fascinated me….I’d never seen anything like it- not even in New York.
I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and have worked in the furniture industry ever since. It has been the perfect avenue for my love of art, a constant challenge, and a wonderful way to meet creative people.
Kim and I are the very proud parents of three sons: Kim Jr., Kyle, and Riley.
